Valley CAN Launches Business Recognition Program

Program will promote voluntary achievements

Valley CAN today launched its Business Recognition Program to acknowledge and promote San Joaquin Valley businesses and industries that voluntarily developed and implemented new technologies, approaches and methods to reduce air emissions. The Valley-based nonprofit organization works to support and advance real-world solutions to air quality problems.

“By promoting these achievements and building awareness, Valley CAN will seek to inspire and motivate others to engage and invest in similar voluntary actions that result in solutions to further improve the Valley’s air now,” said Bob Maddux, Valley CAN President.

“The goal of the program is to inspire and motivate others to proactively engage and invest in voluntary actions that result in solutions to further improve the Valley’s air,” he said.

Many businesses in the Valley already have taken steps to cut their emissions through such programs as retrofitting equipment to lower emissions, promoting employee programs such as carpooling, and implementing other activities to help clean the air.

Businesses who participate in the recognition program will receive special acknowledgement from Valley CAN, including placement in periodic ads in local newspapers and/or business journals, a static decal to place in a window at their business or automobile in support of promoting the “Business CAN. You CAN. Valley CAN” theme, and a resolution from the Valley CAN Board of Directors recognizing contributions to improving the air in the San Joaquin Valley.

“By telling others of the current accomplishments of Valley businesses, and demonstrating what can be done today, Valley CAN hopes to set examples for others to follow,” said Maddux.

Businesses interested in participating in the program must fill out a registration form located on the Valley CAN website, www.valley-can.org. For more information contact Tom Knox
