Valley Clean Air Now Approves Grant Funding for Green Team San Joaquin
(Fresno, Calif.) - Today, in a continuing effort to help improve the Valley’s air quality, Valley CAN (Clean Air Now) has approved grant funds of $20,000 for a project by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Project "Green Team San Joaquin" is a collaborative effort between private businesses, municipal and county solid waste divisions, economic development professionals and the community of San Joaquin County.
This project will enhance the delivery of Chamber services and address economic, environmental, and quality of life issues in Stockton and San Joaquin County. Green Team San Joaquin seeks to elevate energy and air quality education outreach activities to businesses and schools in Stockton and San Joaquin County
"I am pleased that we are able to help support the Green Team San Joaquin as they work to raise energy and air quality awareness in Stockton and San Joaquin County," said Paul Betancourt, president of Valley CAN. "Air quality and energy issues are of utmost concern to Valley Clean Air Now and the proposal by Green Team San Joaquin has illustrated how individual organizations can make a difference."
Green Team San Joaquin also serves as the Steering Committee for the Recycling Exposition (REXPO.) The REXPO is a major exhibit at the Chamber’s annual Agricultural Exposition (Ag Expo.) This year’s 31st Annual Ag Expo will feature the third REXPO, as well as Valley CAN’s Energy and Clean Air Business Expo. Both will provide an opportunity for businesses and residents alike to learn more about innovative, cost-effective approaches to cleaning the air, improving energy efficiency and recycling. The 31st Annual Ag Expo, REXPO III, and Valley CAN’s Energy and Clean Air Business Expo will be January 16-18, 2007 at the San Joaquin Fairgrounds in Stockton.
