Kern COG 40th Anniversary & Art Contest

Kern Council of Governments and the Arts Council of Kern partnered to commemorate Kern Council of Governments (Kern COG) 40th Anniversary with a 'Call to Artists' on the chosen theme, The Bicycle As a Means of Transportation. Kern Council of Governments' 40th Anniversary and Art Reception was held on October 28th, at the Petroleum Club in Bakersfield, Ca.

All winners' artwork was displayed and a total of nine winners were announced in various categories including photography, painting, graphic art and sculpture. Mike Martin, Valley Clean Air Now (Valley CAN) board member, presented the award in the Graphics Art category to local Bakersfield artist, Mike Sallee, for his work titled 'Three Miles To Go'.

The overall Best In Show winner's artwork, as well as Valley CAN's logo, will be displayed in public buildings throughout Kern County in 2011 and at all Kern COG's outreach events and website.

Valley CAN was a co-sponsor of the event and congratulates all the winners and Kern COG for promoting and sharing in the mission of improving air quality in all communities throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
